7 Activities to Look Forward to With BC's Recovery Plan

BC’s Restart Plan to normalize Social Gatherings

Update on Jun 04 2021

The provincial government revealed BC’s Restart program last Tuesday to expand social and economic activities through a four-step plan and get things back to normal again.

As the BC restart plan unfolds, factors such as COVID-19 case counts, hospitalizations, and vaccination levels will be considered. The estimated date has also been announced on when the province is ready to move to the next step in the program. Here are 7 social activities you can do throughout the different steps of the recovery plan:

1. Indoor Gatherings

In step 1 of the recovery plan, we’re allowed to initiate an indoor gathering of up to 5 people! You can now host a small dinner party at your home with your inner bubble. If you don’t want the headache of thinking what ingredients to buy or prepping different dishes, you can save time by ordering from your favorite local restaurant! Your guests would be delighted for sure.

2. Movies

Watching a movie at the cinema is allowed with safety protocols in place during step 2 of the recovery plan! The earliest date to implement this is on June 15th. Watching movies at home with microwave popcorn is great, but it really doesn’t beat the huge screen, surround sound, and the buttery fresh popcorn they make at the movie theatre. Wouldn’t it be great to be able to go to the cinemas for a date night again?

3. Sports

Did you know that indoor sports and high-intensity classes will be held again from step 2 of the recovery plan? You can look forward to booking your next Zumba class with your friends to get some exercise in. During this step, outdoor sports are also allowed to have a maximum of 50 spectators!

4. Travelling

Recreational travels will be allowed within the province with step 2 of the recovery plan in place. There are so many beautiful places to explore in BC, so make sure you get all your camping gears ready for this summer! We can even travel across Canada when we reach step 3 of the recovery program, with the earliest date to implement this on July 1st.

5. Nightlife

Party people rejoice! Night clubs will reopen in step 3 of the recovery program with safety protocols in place. Bars will also serve alcohol until midnight at this point. You can start the night pre-drinking at home by ordering some drinks first before heading out to your favorite bars and clubs.

6. Sleepovers

Step 3 of the recovery program allows you to host sleepovers with your friends! You can finally invite your friends over for a binge-watch session of your all-time favorite tv shows and order some pizzas when the late night cravings kicks in.

7. Going back to the Office

Working from home has been an interesting experience for most of us, but it’d be nice to interact with your colleagues in person instead of doing zoom calls. In the 4th step of the restart plan with the earliest set date on September 7th, workplaces would be fully reopened. Don’t forget to thank your staff for putting up with all the changes in the past year with some gift cards as a ‘welcome back’ gift!
